Taking a Closer Look at Small Group Differentiated Instruction in the 90-Minute Block

Small group instruction during the 90-minute block should supplement and reinforce the initial reading instruction that takes place in Tier 1. In this training, we will focus on how to differentiate instruction in small, flexible groups to ensure students have the opportunity to access the curriculum and core content. This training will emphasize using data to provide small, targeted skill groups rather than traditional leveled reading groups. (Training will last approximately 40 minutes)

Extending the Learning: Getting the Most out of Small Group Rotations

Small group rotations (centers) provide an opportunity for students to independently practice the skills and strategies they are learning in Tier 1. In this session, we will look at various resources and activities that can support whole group instruction and provide your students with meaningful practice opportunities.

*This would be best in grade level groups so it can be customized to meet the needs of the students. (Training will last approximately 40 minutes)

Write Your Way to Success (K-2): Part 2

Building upon what was learned in Part 1, we will dive deeper into grade-specific writing instruction. *This training meets HB 7069 requirements for recertification

Annotating the HMH Text with Collaboration (Grades 3-5)

Annotating and collaboration are two high effect strategies that can be easily used in the classroom. Collaborative learning paired with annotating the text can be beneficial for several reasons. It aids in the development of higher-level thinking, fosters the skill of analyzing and interpreting texts, increases student engagement, and encourages inferencing and drawing conclusions about a text. Annotating the text can also help students focus, visualize key points, and break down complex texts. (Training will last approximately 30 minutes)

Writing in the Upper Elementary Classroom
