Santa Rosa Accessibility Statement

Santa Rosa County District Schools is committed to making our web site accessible to all our users. As such, a District Accessibility plan/checklist is under development to address the latest federal requirements, meet the needs of the disabled, and ensure that our sites are as user-friendly as possible. We are reviewing and redesigning our sites, and SRCSD is actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our websites. We aim to conform to WCAG 2.0 Level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) that outlines how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines will help make our web more user friendly for all people, and the District and our schools will continue to work on making all web pages, documents, videos, and images accessible to our users.

Adobe Acrobat PDF Files

Many of the documents on the SRCSD website are in HTML format, which is generally accessible to people who use screen readers, and a large percentage of our documents are in PDF Format.

PDF format is used to preserve the content and layout of our hard copy publications, and most can be viewed and printed using your browser. If your browser does not work, you can download and get help using Acrobat Reader at the Adobe site. The downloadable Acrobat Reader software is available at NO CHARGE from Adobe.

People using screen-reading devices generally are unable to read documents directly in PDF format unless they have an accessibility plug-in installed on their system along with the Adobe Acrobat Reader. This plug-in is available at NO CHARGE from Adobe, in addition to other online tools that will convert PDF files to HTML on request. To get the plug-in and latest news about Adobe’s accessibility tools and services, visit the Adobe Downloads site.

Style Sheets

All of our web sites use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for page layout and text formatting. By using relative and adjustable font sizes, users are able to set the text size to better suit their needs. This feature is not currently available on all district and school pages, but we are working to update existing pages. All new pages will have this feature.
