Family Empowerment Scholarship with Unique Abilities

***IMPORTANT***

The State of Florida offers the Family Empowerment Scholarship with Unique Abilities Program (FES-UA). Under FES-UA, a student may be eligible to attend a different public school or a participating private school. The student must also be age 3 and not be over age 22 prior to September 1 of the upcoming school year (Students up to age 22 may not have already graduated with a standard diploma). See age requirements below:

  • Students must be at least 3 or 4 on or before September 1
  • Students entering kindergarten must be 5 on or before September 1
  • Students entering first grade must be 6 on or before September 1

Please note that the public option for FES-UA applies to grades kindergarten through grade 12 (or not over the age of 22).

Students using the FES-UA Scholarship public school option will be able to continue doing so under the FES-UA public school option.

Notification methods include:

  • Letters distributed in the spring to all students in SRCDS with an Individual Education Plan (IEP) explaining the Family Empowerment Scholarship with Unique Abilities program and application process. The letter is available based on the primary languages of English and Spanish
