Due to extremely cold temperatures and winter weather potential, all Santa Rosa County Schools and district offices will be closed on both Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22. All district afterschool activities for Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22 are cancelled as well. This also include our before and afterschool programs with Santa Rosa Community Schools and our Latchkey programs.

This decision was made with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority, in collaboration with the National Weather Service of Mobile and the Santa Rosa Emergency Management Office.

We understand that unexpected closures can be challenging for families, and we appreciate your understanding as we take necessary precautions to ensure safety for all students and staff.

We encourage you to continue to monitor district communications for further updates. Please stay warm and safe! Have a wonderful evening.


PRESS RELEASE - SRCDS Weather Update - January 17, 2025

January 17, 2025 – Santa Rosa County School District is closely monitoring the forecasted cold weather potentially arriving to our area early next week. We are working closely with the National Weather Service of Mobile and Santa Rosa County Emergency Operations to ensure the safety of all students and staff as we make decisions about school schedules.

Families and staff members are encouraged to stay informed by checking our district website (www.santarosaschools.org), our social media platforms, and the School Status Connect notification system to receive updates regarding any changes to school schedules. At this time, no changes have been made.

Additionally, as a reminder, there is no school on Monday, January 20 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

PRESS RELEASE - JANUARY 9, 2025

January 9, 2025 — Santa Rosa County District Schools is proud to announce an increase in its graduation rate for the 2023-2024 school year, reflecting the district’s commitment to student success and academic excellence. The latest data shows that the district’s graduation rate has risen to 90.9% during the 2023-2024 school year, an increase from 90.4% in the 2022-2023 school year. During the 2018-2019 school year, prior to COVID-19, the graduation rate was 88.9%. The graduation rate measures the percentage of students who graduate within four years of their first enrollment in ninth grade.

“This incredible achievement is a truly testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our educators and staff, and the unwavering support of our families and community,” said Dr. Karen Barber, Superintendent of Schools for Santa Rosa County. “We are committed to continuing our efforts in loving, educating, and preparing all students for graduation and a successful future.”

Santa Rosa County District Schools extends its gratitude to all teachers, staff, students, and stakeholders for their role in this accomplishment of not only increasing the graduation rate, but continuing to maintain a high level of expectations.
