Graduation Requirements
  • A cumulative unweighted grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale

  • A passing score on the Algebra I EOC or concordant score on PSAT Math (430), SAT Math (420), ACT Math (16), or Geometry EOC (level 3 or higher)

  • A passing score on 10th grade Reading state assessment or concordant score on the SAT EBRW (480) or an average of the Reading and Writing on the ACT of an (18)

24 TOTAL CREDITS REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION

English - 4 credits

  • English I, II, III, IV (no other class such as Journalism or a writing class can substitute for English)

Mathematics - 4 credits

  • Algebra I, Geometry, and two (2) additional Math credits

Science - 3 credits

  • Biology and two (2) others (keep in mind that most four-year universities want to see four (4) sciences on your transcript)

Social Studies - 3 credits

  • World History, American History and 1/2 American Government and Economics

Performing Fine Arts - 1 credit

  • Art, Music/band, Drama/Stagecraft, Digital Design, Debate, ITV, Digital Information Technology (DIT), Newspaper, Theatre Cinema Film Production)
  • You can waive the Fine arts credit with two (2) years of ROTC.

HOPE - 1 credit

  • You can waive all of HOPE with two (2) years of ROTC. You can also waive HOPE with two (2) seasons of a junior varsity or varsity sport, including two (2) seasons of Dance. See your Guidance Counselor to have waiver added to your transcript.

  • One (1) semester of Marching Band or Colorguard will waive 1/2 of the physical education requirement. The remaining 1/2 credit by taking Personal Fitness on www.flvs.net.

ONLINE

  • One (1) entire class that is taken online or Digital Information Technology (DIT).

All other classes will be considered electives.

Foreign language is not required for graduation; however, you WILL need two (2) consecutive years of a foreign language to earn Bright Futures and to be accepted into a Florida University.
